Linking Measures and Capabilities
Purpose
This page is used to create/display dependencies between Measure and Object. Here Objects may be ITService, Technology, Capability Set, ITService Component and Technology Version. You can define dependencies at Object Level, Capability Class Level, Capability Level and Capability Maturity Level.
Layout & Navigation
The page is organized into two panels or sections. First Panel is used to create/display dependencies between Measure and Object and Second Panel is used to display information of object and associated measure.
First Panel (Navigation Panel)
- First Panel provides Selection of Measure and parent Object to define dependency between Measure (Category) - object.
- First Panel display table grid with list of Capability Class, Capabilities with maturity level of selected object and list of value dials and its measures for selected value dial category.
- You can create dependencies between Measure and Object in first panel.
- You can define dependencies at Object Level, Capability Class Level, Capability Level and Capability Maturity Level.
- You can drag and drop Measures to define dependencies (Child provides input to parent - only measures drag and drop on object).
- You can Edit/Delete information of dependency.
Activities of performed in First Panel
- Select Category
- Click on “Select Category” link in first panel, open pop up. Pop up contains the various value dial categories.
- Select one or more value dial categories to displays its measures.
- Select Object
- Click on “Select Object” link in first panel, open pop up. Pop up contains the various filters.
- Pop up contains Navigation and Attribute filters. From pop up, you can select object.
- Navigation filter (available in Pop up)
- In Navigation filter, you can select object of interest.
- There is Scope drop down list to select Object Type (Technology, ITService, Capability Set etc.)
- Based on selected Object Type, collection portion is refreshed/loaded.
- In Collection portion, if there are multiple entities available for selected object type, you may select one or more entities from the “Focus On” to narrow or expand the list of objects to choose from.
- Select the collection and then navigate through the tree to find the object you are interested in.
- You must select third level object from the navigation hierarchy.
- Attribute filter (available in Pop up)
- In Attribute filter, you have option to include/exclude Hidden and Inactive records.
- Select appropriate option if you want to filter records.
- Selected object displayed below “Select Object” link.
- Load/Display Measure and Object
- After selection of measure and object, click on “Load” button to load/display measure and object data.
- Data are displayed in tabular format. There are two separate two tables, first for measures data and second for object data.
- There are multiple columns in Object Data table, first column represents the capability maturity model of object and others represent the maturity level/measure scale of object.
- In Measure Data table, we are displaying different value dials and its measures.
- Capability maturity model of object is in hierarchical manner, first is display the object then its capability classes then capabilities of each capability class then capability questions of each capability.
- Drag/Drop Measures
- You can drag/drop measures to define dependencies.
- You can drag measures and drop them on object.
- You can drag/drop only measures but not value dials.
- You can put draggable measure in any cell of object table.
- You can put multiple draggable items in one cell of object table.
- You can delete droppable items of measure from cell of object table.
- You cannot put measure in maturity level/measure scale cell of capability class and object.
- You can put measure in maturity level/measure scale cell of capability and Capability question.
- You cannot drag/drop objects.
- Add/Edit/Delete Dependency Details
- You can add dependency details between measure and object at two places.
- First, after dragging an item from measure table and putting it in cell of object table, you have pop up to enter the dependency detail between measure and object.
- Second, click on edit icon provided in cell of object table, pop up for dependency detail will be opened.
- In dependency Detail pop up, you can enter comments, set dependency active/inactive, set dependency visible/invisible.
- If you drag measure and put it in maturity level/measure scale cell of capability and Capability question then in pop up there is grid and its contains the maturity level and its practice. By selecting either maturity level/practice or both you can create dependencies between maturity level/practice and measure. You can also able to enter comment in text box available along with maturity level and practice.
- If you drag measure and put it in capability class or object cell then in pop up there is option to enter comment for dependency.
- You can edit/delete already added dependency details.
- To delete dependency detail, click on delete icon provided in cell of object table.
Second Panel (Information Panel)
In Second Panel, you can view dependent measures and maturity levels. There are two sections in second panel, first for dependent measures and second for maturity level.
Activities of performed in Second Panel
- View Dependent Measures
- In the first section (Dependent Measures) of second panel, you can view object information and its measures.
- Click on Object, capability class, capability, capability question available in object table of first panel, second panel will be refreshed.
