Assets

In Asset management page, you can manage(add/update/delete) various details for assets and asset instances. These Details includes –

  • Asset Core Attributes
  • Asset Instances
  • Performance measures for assets
  • Scoring Performance Metrics for assets
  • Asset Instance Core Attributes
  • Associations with asset instances
  • Performance measures for asset instance
  • Scoring Performance Metrics for asset instance

The page is organized into three sections or panels.

First Panel/Section is navigation panel where you can add new asset or select any existing asset to manage its data. In this panel, you can add new asset by selecting ‘Add a new Asset’ option. By clicking on it, it will open a popup window asking for basic asset name. By setting asset name you can add a new asset. In this page, you can manage details of asset instance also by selecting instances form this panel. To select any existing asset or instance, you have three options available in this panel. Those options are displayed in two separate sub-sections within this panel and those sub-sections are –

  • Assets (Collection View)
    • In this sub-section, Assets are displayed as collection view. This collection is based on navigation method selected. Available navigation methods are –
      • Class and Sub Class
      • Sub Class
      • Location
      • Vendor
      • Status
    • Based on navigation method selected, it will load asset/instance collection. You can change navigation method to group assets accordingly.
    • In this collection, we load assets and instances of each assets in tree-view structure. You can select any asset or asset instance from tree-view and manage its data.
  • Assets (List View)
    • In this sub-section, we simply load all Assets and you can select any asset from the list.
    • You can search any specific asset in ‘Search Assets’ textbox.
  • Asset Instances (List View)
    • In this sub-section, we simply load all Asset instances and you can select any asset instance from the list.
    • You can search any specific asset instance in ‘Search Asset Instances’ textbox.

Second Panel/section is Information panel, where we load several types of information items for assets or asset instances based on what is selected in first panel. you can see in third panel by selecting these items. These items are displayed in various groups in this panel.

Based on asset or asset instance selected from first panel, we load second panel and list information items accordingly.

You can select a single item at a time to see selected information in third panel. This list is configured by system. You may not able to see one or more if you don’t have access to see them.

Third Panel/section is Information details panel, where you load selected information from second panel as data grid.

Each information item/Activity is explained below.

Core Attributes (Assets)

Purpose: Displays form to manage various core attributes of selected asset.
Detail:

  • You can update core details like Name, Display Name and others.
  • You can delete selected asset by using delete button.
  • If you want to reset updated information, you can do this by Cancel button.

Extended Attributes (Assets)

Purpose: Displays grid to manage various extended attributes of selected asset. Detail:

  • Unordered List ItemThis grid is displayed just after above Core Attributes form. It is displayed only when there are attributes defined for assets.

Asset Instances

Purpose: Displays form to manage instances of selected asset.

Performance Measures

Purpose: Displays form to add/update/delete Measure for Selected Asset.

Core Attributes (Asset Instances)

Asset Instance Association

Purpose: Displays grid to manage association details of selected asset instance.
Detail:

  • You can add/update/delete association records for selected instance.
  • To add a new association record, click on New button in grid. It will open a popup asking information of object type that you want to associate. Two object types available
    • Service/Components
    • Technology Versions
  • Based on selected object type in popup, it will load collection of object. You can select one or more objects from collection and by clicking Apply button, it will be associated with selected asset instance.
  • After adding new records, you can update other details for those records from grid. Details like, status, status date, effective/expiry date etc.

Documents

Purpose: Displays grid to manage documents for Selected asset.
Detail:

  • You can add/update/delete documents for assets.
  • You can see this grid by clicking on Manage Documents icon on top of the panel. This feature is applied to assets only. So, it will be not displayed when asset instance is selected.
  • You can see more columns those are hidden by default by using grid’s Column chooser functionality.
  • In case of add, you can upload a document or provide a link to document. In case of edit, you can’t upload or provide link for document. You only can change other basic document details.

Q: Why extended attributes grid not displayed for asset/instance along with core attributes form?

A: We display extended attributes grid only when there are attributes defined for asset/instance.

Q: Second panel is refreshed when change selection from asset to instance and in reverse, why?

A: We load information items in second panel based on what is selected in first panel. If an asset is selected, we load items for assets. If an asset instance is selected, we load items for instances.
