Capability Assessment

Organizational Assessment is used to assess capabilities/measures of organization. You can perform various analysis like other assessment in organizational assessment.

You do not need system administrator or survey administrator for this assessment. System Administrator can allow access the menu items to role we have or assign another role. If you don't see the “Organizational Assessment” menu option, ask your administrator to add survey administrator role or add the above menu items to your current role.

  • There are using three panel layout in organizational assessment.
  • First Panel is used for assessment configuration, second panel is to enter the score and comment and third panel displays the capability maturity level or measure scale information.
  • First Panel (Navigation Panel)
    • You can configure assessment in first panel. There are various assessment configuration options available in first panel.
    • Below are main components of organizational assessment.
    • Assessment Type
      • You can configure Capability Type Assessment or Measure Type Assessment. Assessment Type drop down list is used to configure assessment type (Capability Assessment/Measure Assessment). Assessment Type is required for an assessment.
    • Capability Scope
      • In Capability type assessment have Capability Scope drop down list. There capability maturity model in capability type assessment.
      • In Measure type assessment don’t have Capability Scope drop down list because Measure type assessment does not have capability maturity model.
      • For Capability type assessment, capability scope is required.
    • Valuation Scope
      • You can select Valuation Scope from Valuation Scope drop down list. Capability type assessment have Measure as valuation scope but for Measure type assessment do not have Measure as valuation scope.
      • You must select one valuation scope from Valuation Scope drop down list, it is required.
    • Collection Tree
      • Based on the selected value of Capability Scope drop down list, there is collection tree below Valuation Scope dropdown list.
      • You can filter the capabilities using category, domain and cluster in collection tree.
      • You can configure domain, cluster level assessment using selecting only domain or cluster, not capability from collection tree.
      • You can select only one capability/domain/cluster at a time from collection tree.
      • For Measure type assessment, collection tree display list of Measures along with value dial information. You can select one measure from measure list.
      • We must select one object from collection tree, it is required.
    • Valuation Scope List
      • The Valuation Scope List below collection tree will be loaded based on value selected in Valuation Scope drop down list.
      • You can select one or more objects from Valuation Scope list.
      • You must select one or more objects from Valuation Scope list, it is required.
    • Time Scope
      • You can configure time based assessment using time based assessment option provided in first panel.
      • If assessment is time based then You can choose one or more time scopes form time scope dropdown list.
      • Time scope is optional field for an assessment.
    • Assessment Level
      • You can select assessment level (Capability/Capability Question/Measure) using Assessment Level drop down list.
      • For Capability type assessment, you have Capability/ Capability Question as Assessment Level.
      • For Measure type assessment, you have Measure as Assessment Level.
      • Assessment Level is required for any type of assessment.
    • Organization Unit
      • One organization may have multiple organization unit. You can configure assessment for specific organization unit of organization.
      • It is optional field.
  • Second Panel
    • After selecting appropriate options and clicking in “Apply” button in first panel second panel will be refreshed.
    • There are two tabs in second panel. One is used to enter the maturity score and other is used to enter the importance score.
    • In First (Maturity) tab, enter valid maturity score. Any time you click or touch a field, it shows the maturity descriptions in the next information panel. You can enter the rationale or comments using the comment bubble.
    • Click on “comment” bubble, open the comment dialog and display the comment if it already entered by you. You can enter/update comment using the comment dialog.
    • In Second (Importance) tab, Enter importance score. Just like maturity scores enter any valid score and the comments.
    • Click on “Calculate Maturity” will roll up the scores and display the maturity and importance scores at higher levels of the model.
  • Third Panel (Information Panel)
    • If you click or touch field in second panel, it refreshes the third(information) panel.
    • Third panel display the maturity level/measure scale description, object description for capability type assessment.
    • In measure type assessment, third panel displays maturity level/measure scale description, object description and valuation object description.

Q1: I don’t see any data in the second and third panel. Where did they all go?

A: To get the data in second and third panel, you need appropriate configuration for an assessment in first panel then click on “Apply” button in first panel.

Q2: I am getting “Please select valuation scope object” alert message. Why?

A: If you have not select valuation object from the first panel and click on “Apply” button, you will get “Please select valuation scope object” alert message.

Q3: I am getting “Please select capability scope object” alert message. Why?

A: If you have not select object from collection tree in the first panel and click on “Apply” button, you will get “Please select capability scope object” alert message.

Q4: Click on comment bubble in second panel does not open comment dialog. Why?

A: If you have not entered valid score in text box which is along with comment bubble then click on comment bubble, it will not open comment dialog.
