Participating in an Assessment
As a participant, you can assess current state of capabilities, set capability expectations, identify potential improvement practices and analyze maturity data.
The following sections can help you understand the functionality available and how you could use them.
Accessing Assessments
There are two ways to access assessment pages.
- A link in the invitation email you have received will display the specified assessment page. You may need to set up passcode and your profile if this is the first time you are accessing the system.
-
- The main page displays the list of assessments. Click on an assessment name to start the process.
- Assessment menu includes at least two choices. Assessment summary provides your participation status of all assessments you have been invited to. My Assessment choices takes you to a list of assessments available to you.
Assessment Styles
There are two assessment formats. Depending upon the assessment settings, you will be presented with one of the two formats.
1. In-line (survey style) Assessment Format
This style is a familiar multi-choice question-response format used in most surveys. Each assessment question has multiple responses, each response representing a level of maturity. For each question also has one or more scoring category. Pick the best response for each scoring category.
Use information icon to see additional details about the question or the available responses.
There may be a situation where your ideal score is between two responses. This format does not allow in-between scoring. Select a most appropriate or conservative response.
2. Tabular (spreadsheet style) Assessment Format
This is another style where the questions and scoring categories are displayed in the table format. As you move from cell to cell, the next panel displays the capability description and information for each level of maturity.
After reading through the description, enter an appropriate score in the cell. In this format you can enter decimal values. If you think the appropriate level of maturity is between two levels, enter a maturity score representing a value between the two maturity levels. Use the comment icon to enter your rationale.
Assessment Report and Charts
After an assessment, the summary scores are displayed. Depending upon the options set by the administrator, you might see a report, summarizing the responses, comments and suggested practices.
From the assessment summary page, you can also review maturity charts, comparing your score vs. the maturity range across all participants.
